My name is Natalia Vasquez and I was born in Porterville, California. I am the third child of four in my family. My older brother is in the Airforce, my older sister works at the Bank of America and my little sister is still attending Roosevelt Elementary. Growing up, I have always thought of attaining a college degree because I learned that I would not have to work as hard as my parents. For as long as I can remember, my parents would tell me how important school was but it wasn't until my 6th grade year that I started taking school seriously and I began thinking about attending a university.
I have never been the type to participate in school events or join any sports because I was far too shy to be able to succeed in any social situation. Now however, I understand the importance of being involved with school. Once I started high school, I wanted to get into as many clubs as I could but seeing as it was my freshman year, I didn't know how to join any or what clubs were available.
It wasn't until my sophomore year that I knew for a fact that I had to join something but I still wasn't involved with anything besides being a part of the homecoming committee. At the end of my sophomore year, I ran for class Vice president and I won the election as well as signed up for ASB for the following year.
I knew being involved would give me more of a chance of getting into the college of my choice. I have been considering a number of universities and I have come to narrow down my list to 5 schools. The main schools I am considering are UC Davis, UC Irvine, Stanford, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Santa Barbara. When going to college, I plan on majoring in Law and criminology, in hopes of becoming a Lawyer.
